1. My child is scared of needles, how would you be able to help?

Most children have had the fear of needles being unpleasant from shots and blood draws. Good news is, acupuncture needles are the thickness of two human hairs! So they only feel a tiny flick sensation.
We also use non needle alternatives such as cupping, acupressure,
moxa heat therapy, shonishin tools, body work and herbal medicine.

2. Why should I bring my child in for acupuncture?

Here's a simple A, B, C's of acupuncture that I use to describe the benefits:

Activates sense of rest and calmness in the body
Brings support to the tissues and immune system.
Circulates oxygen and blood in the body, especially the organs.

These ABC’s, we can clearly see what acupuncture can treat.

Frequent health problems that have an immune system involvement such as allergies, ear infections, digestive issues, asthma or colds and flus can be greatly helped with acupuncture.

Cases where a child may need help regulating their nervous system, like emotional cases, ADHD,  insomnia or difficulty sleeping, colic in babies, can benefit the child.

Poor circulation or health conditions  that could benefit from improved blood flow and circulatory improvement - headaches, skin conditions such as eczema/psoriasis, constipation/diarrhea and pains from injury or growing.

RESEARCH AND RESULTS

“A study into the effects of acupuncture for children was conducted by Yuan-Chi Lin, M.D., an anesthesiologist specializing in pediatric pain management at the Boston-based Harvard-affiliated Children’s Hospital. The study by Dr. Lin involved 243 children ranging between 6 months and 18 years of age. These children had sought acupuncture therapy for back pain, headaches, stomachaches and other chronic complaints that had led to them being absent from school. The children involved in the study rated the pain they experienced as being an eight out of 10, with 10 being the worst pain imaginable. Dr. Lin’s year-long study found that the children who had received acupuncture therapy reported less pain, on average, than before treatment. The children now rated their average pain as a three out of 10, as opposed to an eight out of 10. The children also reported increased school attendance, improved sleep, and increased participation in extracurricular activities.”
